The DSS has said it has arrested and detained the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
This morning, Saturday, DSS said that Emefiele was not in her hands at the time, before later confirming that he is now in her hands.
Since last Friday night, some reports said that the security forces abducted him shortly after President Bola Tinubu suspended him from his post.
“DSS confirms that Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, is now in our custody for investigation,” according to a statement it posted on its Twitter account.
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and his APC party have accused Emefiele of trying to prevent them from winning the general election that concluded in February because of the plan to reduce the amount of money in the hands of the people that he launched and changed the currency of the naira.
Before that, the DSS accused Emefiele of aiding terrorism and even took him to court over the allegations.
